This is especially true when the mishap requires disassembling and reassembling the system’s VCR-style face seal fittings and their surrounding parts.
The Importance of Gland Bead Integrity
The integrity of the gland’s slightly raised, rounded edge, referred to as the bead or sealing bead, is essential for ensuring a leak-proof seal in high-purity gas and liquid delivery systems. The sealing bead is the primary point of contact with the gasket. If the bead is damaged, worn, or misaligned, it won’t compress the gasket properly, resulting in leaks. Even minor imperfections can compromise the integrity of the seal.

How Do ATRs Help?
Hy-Tech ATRs provide a low coefficient of friction, virtually eliminating rotary action transfer and, subsequentially, keeping the gland beads undamaged.
When the nut is tightened on VCR-style fittings, the friction between the nut and the fitting can lead to rotary action transfer as mentioned earlier. In just the ¼ turn it takes to tighten the assembly, you will most likely notice a significant difference in the appearance of the parts when comparing assemblies with and without the ATR.

Anti-Torque Rings for All Common Fitting Sizes
We have two types of anti-torque rings, accommodating ¼”, 3/8”, and ½” fitting sizes. All our ATRs are comprised of a 300 series stainless steel substrate and are covered in an ultra-thin(.0001” -.0003”) proprietary coating, preventing the ring from loosening the connection. Additionally, this coating is effective in temperatures up to 650 degrees Fahrenheit, keeping your system functioning in strenuous environments.
